About

Semifore Inc. is a privately held Delaware corporation founded in 2006 and headquartered in Mountain View California.

We founded this company because we had written register management scripts for complex designs for more than a decade. We turned our expertise and passion for this problem into a new compiler-based tool that would be useful for many companies.

Semifore offers products and services for the specification and design hardware and embedded software; we specialize in control register and address map specification and management. Our products significantly reduce the time and errors involved in developing and maintaining hardware, software, and design specifications in sync across the multi-disciplinary design teams now required to deliver system on a chip integration. We are committed to providing a consistently high level of service for our customers worldwide.

We support a variety of startup and established design teams who are developing a variety of IP cores, SOC’s, ASICs and FPGA’s. We have announced one customer to date, Cambridge Display Technology that was acquired by Sumitomo Chemical in July of 2007 and continues to use our product.

The company’s products include CSRSpec and CSRCompiler which are the third generation of control register and address map management tools. We support SystemRDL but we also support advanced functions such as hierarchical address map specification, reusable templates and object orientation. We are proficient with the following technologies:

  • Digital ASIC design
  • Verilog & VHDL design and verification
  • XML schema validation
  • Framemaker
